The Plant

Annual Tansy (Tanacetum annuum L.) also known as blue chamomile is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the botanical family Asteraceae and native to the Mediterranean basin. These plants have large stems and pennatilobed leaves. The yellow flowers are grouped in buds and appear from July to September. The flowers are said to be hermaphroditic, meaning that they have both pistils and stamens and, in the case of the annual tansy, fertilization can take place with the sexual organs of the same flower.
