Lemon Tea Tree essential oil: how to use it correctly?

Precautions for use

Caution! Lemon Tea Tree essential oil is not suitable for children under 6 years and pregnant and lactating women. It is advisable to dilute it with 20 % in a vegetable oil.

The essential oil of Tea Tree Lemon must be diluted to 10% for its application on the skin (10% essential oil and 80% vegetable oil).

Allergenic components

Lemon Tea Tree oil contains a high proportion of allergenic biochemical components:

  • citral (40-65%);
  • citronellol (2-5%);
  • linalool (2-5%);
  • limonene (<1%).

Note: It is preferable to test the essential oil before using it (two drops in the hollow of the elbow for at least 24 hours to check that there is no reaction).

Properties of the essential oil of Tea Tree Lemon

The essential oil of Tea Tree Lemon is highly concentrated in citronnellal and citrals. These different molecules give it the following main properties:

  • repellent +++ (citronellal): the essential oil of Tea Tree Lemon contains citronnellal, a molecule known to be effective in keeping away insects and more particularly mosquitoes.
  • calming +++ (citronellol,citral,citronellal): terpene aldehydes, present in high concentration in the essential oil of Tea Tree Lemon, give it calming and relaxing properties.
  • antibacterial +++ (citronellol,citral,citronellal): these molecules give Tea Tree Lemon essential oil antibacterial properties. In particular, they have demonstrated their effectiveness against the development of Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus or Bacillus.
  • antifungal +++ (citronellol,citral,citronellal): these molecules, which make up the essential oil of Lemon Tea Tree, offer it the antifungal property, especially on strains of Candida or Aspergillus.
  • anti-inflammatory, analgesic ++ (citronellol,citral,citronellal): the essential oil of Tea Tree Citronné allows to treat inflammations in local application on the skin. Citronnellal, citral and citronnellol are molecules that have an action on the thermal peripheral nociceptors but also at the central level.

Tea Tree Lemon or Tea Tree ?

Lemon Tea Tree essential oil is effective against fungal infections in particular thanks to its antifungal properties but you can also use Tea Tree essential oil. Cutaneously, 1 drop of pure Tea Tree on the fungal infection, morning and evening after thoroughly cleaning the affected area. Take a one week break after 3 weeks of use.
