Essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade: how to use it correctly?

Coming from the leaves of the bigaradier, the essential oil of Small Grain Bigarade has remarkable effects on the nervous system. True anti-stress oil, it will promote relaxation and soothing by its sweet smell of orange blossom. In cosmetics, it will be the ally of the fatty skins. Latin name: Citrus × aurantium ssp. amara (Link) Engl. distilled part: leaves and small branches.

Precautions for use

The essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade is usable by all the family except for the pregnant women of less than 3 months. It does not present particular contra-indications if it is not that the asthmatic persons must ask advice to their doctor before using it. All the ways of use are possible.

Allergenic components

The essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade contains four allergenic biochemical components.

  • linalool (18 to 32%);
  • geraniol (≤ 4%);
  • limonene (≤ 2%);
  • Citrals (geranial + neral) (≤ 0.5%).

Note: It is preferable to test the essential oil before using it (two drops in the crook of the elbow for at least 24 hours to ensure there is no reaction).

Properties of the essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade

The essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade is highly concentrated in linalyl acetate, linalool, alpha terpineol and geranyl acetate. These different molecules give it the following main properties:

  • antispasmodic +++ (linalyl acetate): the essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade controls the spasms of nervous, thoracic and gynecological origin. It is also a vascular antispasmodic.
  • anti-infectives ++ (linalool,α-terpineol): the essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade is a mild anti-infective, acting on infections of the respiratory tract.
  • nerve rebalancer ++ (monoterpene alcohols): the essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade is sedative, it is a calming of the nervous system. It is also a mild antidepressant.
  • analgesic + (linalool,α-terpineol,linalyl acetate): the essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade calms pain of nervous origin, such as certain rheumatism.
  • local anaesthetic + (linalool): the essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade can treat minor infections and soothe pain.

From 3 months. In diffusion, pour the number of drops of Petit Grain Bigarade indicated on the leaflet. Diffuse by range of 30 minutes maximum.

From 3 years.Inhalation, 1 drop of Petit Grain Bigarade pure on the wrists to inhale deeply, 3 times a day, until improvement. Take a break of one week after three weeks of use.

Use in synergy

Restricted to + 6 years. By skin, apply 1 drop of the mixture on the solar plexus and 1 drop on the inside of each wrist. Repeat 2 to 3 times a day as needed. In case of prolonged use or for sensitive skin, dilute in a vegetable oil.

Small Bitter Berry or Cardamom ?

The essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade is effective but the essential oil of Cardamom is more effective in case of aerophagia, bloating or flatulence. For the + of 6 years, orally: 1 drop of Cardamom in a teaspoon of olive oil or honey 3 times a day.

Use in synergy

Reserved for + 3 years. Orally, on days when symptoms of aerophagia are triggered, ingest 2 drops of this synergy, 3 times a day before a meal, in a teaspoon of honey or olive oil. Do not use this synergy for a prolonged period without the advice of a therapist.

  • 30 drops of Lemon essential oil
  • 30 drops of essential oil of Cardamom

In case of depression

Restricted to + 6 years. In cutaneous application: place 1 drop of the mixture on the solar plexus and 1 drop on the inside of the wrists 2 to 3 times a day. Petit Grain Bigarade or Neroli ?

The essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade will be effective in case of depression, but if you have essential oil of Neroli, it will be even more effective. By cutaneous way, from 6 years old: 1 drop of Neroli in 4 drops of vegetable oil to be applied on the inner side of the wrists and on the chest, morning and evening. Make a pause of one week after three weeks of use.

In case of sleep disorders, Insomnia

From 3 months. In diffusion, pour the number of drops indicated on the leaflet in your diffuser and let diffuse for about 20 minutes.

From 3 years. By skin, 1 drop of Petit Grain Bigarade in 4 drops of vegetable oil, massaged on the solar plexus before sleeping.

Small Bitter Seed or Roman Chamomile ?

Petit Grain Bigarade can be effective against insomnia, but Roman Chamomile essential oil is more effective. It can be used from the age of 3 months in diffusion for example, 10 minutes before bedtime or by skin, 1 drop diluted in 9 drops of vegetable oil, in massage on the solar plexus and / or the soles of the feet.

Use in synergy

For adults and adolescents. Use the blend by diffusion or inhalation. It is also possible to use it dermally, 1 drop on the inside of the wrists, or add 4 mL of vegetable oil for sensitive skin, applying to the wrists, solar plexus or the soles of the feet.

The essential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade is used on many occasions, especially related to its anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, deodorant or nervous rebalancing properties. For most of the following uses it will be effective, but without necessarily being the best essential oil. We therefore indicate the best substitute for Petit Grain Bigarade for the following different problems.

Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatism

Bigarade Seed effective but... It is better to use Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil: dermally, 1 drop of Lemon Eucalyptus in 4 drops of vegetable oil, 3 to 4 times a day on the painful area, until improvement.

Acne, Boil

Bigarade Seed effective but... It is better to use Tea Tree essential oil: dermally, 1 drop undiluted on each pimple morning and night after cleansing the face and until the acne disappears.

Hyperactivity (children)

Little Grain Bigarade effective but... It is better to use True Lavender essential oil in case of hyperactivity in children: in inhalation, breathe the bottle directly, slowly and deeply, and renew as many times as necessary.

Sweating

Bigarade Seed effective but... It is best to use Palmarosa essential oil: dermally, 1 drop pure under each armpit, 1 time a day after showering. Take 1 week break after 3 weeks of use.
