Rose Hip Oil or Rosehip Oil?

The Chilean Musk Rose (Rosa rubiginosa) is an endemic plant of the American region. It is often confused with its close cousin, Rosehip, also called wild rose or dog rose (Rosa canina), which is native to Europe. The vegetable oils from these two plants are generally obtained in the same way: after cold pressing the achenes or seeds of the fruits. Sometimes they are extracted with supercritical CO2, as in the case of Rosehip oil. These two oils are often confused because both plants belong to the same botanical family Rosaceae. Their composition is ultimately very similar and so are their properties. They can therefore easily be substituted for each other.
